This page describes the inspiration and thought process that went into the design of our logo, which was prepared by Ojo Rojo, a design firm based in Quito, Ecuador.
The logo for “SALA” arises from the hummingbird (colibrí in Spanish). A bird that is fast, endemic to South America, intelligent, dynamic, colorful, and full of life. We have taken these attributes to implicitly embed them in the graphic design for “SALA”.
The isotype has much movement (like the hummingbird) and demonstrates the connection between ideas and knowledge that converge towards a final point. Additionally, the aesthetic and conceptual construction of this symbol forms the letter “S”, which is the first letter of “SALA”.
The logo is built from a futurist font (Hyperspace Race Capsule). This font has been slightly modified to make it unique to “SALA”. The result is a signature that immediately places us in the realm of AI. The tagline “Summit of AI in LatAm” has been added in a legible font (Graphik) to communicate the objective of the brand.
Conceptually, the iridescence can be applied within the realm of AI in a metaphorical and functional manner. This chromatic composition illustrates certain key principles of technology (innovation, design, engineering, efficiency, automation, networks, and connectivity), and its rapid evolution towards the future. This chromatic design reflects the ideas of adaptability and dynamism, which is a fundamental notion of AI.
